3、es(220kVand330kV)andremotegeneration.Thesystemalsosuffersfromvoltagestabilityproblems.Withtheintroductionofthenew400kVinterconnectiontoEskom,thetwoproblemsinherentintheNamPowersystemareaccentuated.Thelarge400kVlinechargingcapacitancereducestheparallelresonancefrequencycloserto50Hzorevenlo

4、werandmakesthenetworkmorevoltagesensitiveaswell.Inthiscase,bothphenomenamanifestthemselvesintheformofextremelyhighandsustainedovervoltages.Thepaperexplainstherelationshipbetweenthe50-Hzresonanceandthevoltagestabilityphenomenaandpresentstheapproachforsolvingthem.Italsodescribesthecriteriau
