3、htheanalysisrelatedtovegetation,havebeenshowntohavefavoredthebyCharney[1975]whosuggestedthatanincreasedsurfacenorthwardmigrationofthedesertboundary.Duringthisalbedosuppressesatmosphericascendanceand,thus,leadstoperiod,numerouslakesandwetlandsexistedin
4、theSaharareducedprecipitationrates.Thiseffectisillustratedinmoreregionandmighthaveactedasalocalmoisturesource.recentworkbyKnorrandSchnitzler[2006]andVamborgetal.However,earliermodelstudiesoftheeffectsofopenwater[2011]whoshowthattheorbitallytriggeredmi
5、d-Holocenesurfacesonthemid-HoloceneNorthAfricanclimateSahelprecipitationincreasecanbeamplifiedinaclimatemodelsuggestedthatthesewereweakanddidnotcontributeifasoilalbedoschemeisusedthattakesintoaccountsimulatedsignificantlytothisnorthwardmigrationoftheN
6、orthorprescribedvegetationcoverandlitter.Africanclimatezones.Usingastate-of-the-artclimate[4]Concerningopenwatersurfaces,CoeandBonan[1997]model,wesuggestthattheeffectofopen-watersurfacesonshowedthatopenwatersurfacesprovideafurtherpositivethemid-Holoce
7、neNorthAfricanclimatemighthavebeenfeedbackamplifyingtheHoloceneorbitalforcing.Prescribingmuchstrongerthanpreviouslyestimated,regionallymoreopenwatersurfacesinlinewithreconstructedmid-Holocenethandoublingthesimulatedprecipitationrates.Itisthussurfacewa
8、terextentinaclimatemodelledtoasignificantpossiblethatthiseffect,combinedtootherknownpositivestrengtheningofthesimulatedmonsooncirculationandfeedbacks,favoredtheappearanceofthe“GreenSahara”.increasedprecipitationsouthof20N,butnotfurthernorth.C
