3、LBM),aparallelandefficientalgorithmforsimulatingsingle-phaseandmultiphasefluidflowsandforincorporatingadditionalphysicalcomplexities.TheLBMisespeciallyusefulformodelingcomplicatedboundaryconditionsandmultiphaseinterfaces.Recentextensionsofthismethodaredescribed,includingsimul
4、ationsoffluidturbulence,suspensionflows,andreactiondiffusionsystems.INTRODUCTIONInrecentyears,thelatticeBoltzmannmethod(LBM)hasdevelopedintoanalternativeandpromisingnumericalschemeforsimulatingfluidflowsandmodelingphysicsinfluids.Theschemeisparticularlysuccessfulinfluidflowapplic
5、ationsinvolvinginterfacialdynamicsandcomplexboundaries.Unlikeconventionalnumericalschemesbasedondiscretizationsofmacroscopiccon-tinuumequations,thelatticeBoltzmannmethodisbasedonmicroscopicmod-elsandmesoscopickineticequations.ThefundamentalideaoftheLBMistoconstructsimplifie
6、dkineticmodelsthatincorporatetheessentialphysicsofmicroscopicormesoscopicprocessessothatthemacroscopicaveragedprop-ertiesobeythedesiredmacroscopicequations.Thebasicpremiseforusingthesesimplifiedkinetic-typemethodsformacroscopicfluidflowsisthatthemacroscopicdynamicsofafluidisth
