5、thelanguage.MuchwasmadeoftheInuitlanguagewherethereisnopreciseequivalenttothesingleEnglishword"snow."Becausesnowissuchanimportantpartofsurvivalofpeopleofthenorth,theyhadnineteendifferentwordsthatvariedaccordingtotheconditionofsnow.Atfirst,somearguedthatthiswasonlyamatterofwhatsizesandshapesofbox
6、esarethewordsweuseinwhichtoputexperiences.InEnglish,however,wehavenosinglewordmeaningthechemical,di-hydrogenoxide(H2O).Ifyouwanttoobjectandsay,"Butwehavetheword'water,'"letmepointoutthattheword"water"doesnotapplytoconditionsofH2Owhenitisfrozen,crystallizedorvaporized,forwhichwehaveotherwords(ice
