2、nChen∗AbstractAsense-basedlexicalknowledgebaseisacorefoundationforlanguageengineering.Twoimportantcriteriamustbesatisfiedwhenconstructingaknowledgebase:linguisticfelicityanddatacohesion.Inthispaper,wediscusshowdatacohesionofthesenseinformationcollectedusingtheSinicaSenseManagementSystem(SSMS)canbe
3、achieved.SSMSmanagesbothlexicalentriesandwordsenses,andhasbeendesignedandimplementedbytheChineseWordnetTeamatAcademiaSinica.SSMScontainsallthebasicinformationthatcanbemergedwiththefutureChineseWordnet.Inadditiontosensesandmeaningfacets,SSMSalsoincludesthefollowinginformation:POS,examplesentences,c
4、orrespondingEnglishsynset(s)fromPrincetonWordNet,andlexicalsemanticrelations,suchassynonym/antonymandhypernym/hyponym.Moreover,theoverarchingstructureofthesystemismanagedbyusingasenseserialnumber,andaninter-entrystructureisestablishedbymeansofcross-referencesamongsynsetsandhomographs.SSMSisnotonly
