2、troducingwesternknowledgetoChinatocultivatepeople’Smindsbymeansoftranslation．LinShu(1852—1924)wasaprolificandmghlyinfluentialtranslatorinintroducingwesternliteraryworksintoChinese．ThoughLinShudoesnotknowanyforeignlanguages，yethisunfaithfultranslationswerewarmly

3、receivedbythereadersthenandproducedatremendoussocialandculturalimpact．Thisuniquetranslationphenomenoncannotbeexplainedbythetraditionaltranslationtheory,whichispreoccupiedwiththeevaluationofthetargettextbasedonitsdegreeoffaithfulnesstothesourcetext．In1990，SusanB
