3、ysticFibrosis(CF),thisstudyshowshowgeneticexplanationsplayaroleinthereclassificationofCysticFibrosis.Oneresultofthisgeneticizationisanosologicalexpansion,wheretheboundariesofthediseaseexpandtoincludeacertainformofmaleinfertility.Inadditionthispaperhighlightstheunc

6、pectsofmedicalgeneticssuchasgeneticcounselling(Bosk1992)orperceptionsofrisk(Hallowell1999).Whiletheseapproachesarevitaladditionstothenormalbioethicsdiscussion,dominatedasitisbyphilosophicalandlegaltheory(Hoffmaster1992,Nelson2000)theytendtotakethefactsofgeneticsc
7、ienceasagiven.Thispapertakesadifferentapproach,addressingthechallengeraisedbyauthorssuchasBartley(1990)orCasperandBerg(1995)whosuggestthatresearchersshouldturntowardsmedicalknowledgeasasiteofsociologicalinterest.Somesociologistshaveexaminedmedicalknowledgeinanumb
