3、nsistingof10rats:thecontrolgroupandtheovariectomizedgroup.Theovariectomizedgroupunderwentbilateralovariectomyviaventralincisionandthecontrolgroupunderwentashamoperation.Skinbiomechanicsweremeasured3monthsfollowingtheovariectomywithatensiletestusingabiomaterialtestingmachine,and
4、tensilestrength,stress,strain,andtoughnesswerecalculated.Superoxidedismutase(SOD)andcatalase(CAT)activitiesandthelevelsofmalondialdehyde(MDA)intheskinoftheratswerealsomeasuredusingthebiochemicalmethods.Thicknessoftheepidermiswasdeterminedbylightmicroscopy.Results:Strength,stres
5、s,strain,SODactivity,andthicknessofepidermisvaluesweresignificantlydecreasedandtheMDAlevelwasincreasedintheovariectomizedratscomparedtothecontrolgroup.Conclusion:Ourresultsshowedthatovariectomydecreasedthebiomechanicalqualityofskin.Thisresultmayberelatedtoreactiveoxygenspeciesg
