5、ghornchickenstogradedlevelsofinfectionwithvirulent(wild-strain)infectiouslaryngotracheitis(ILT)herpesvirus,administeredbythetrachealroute,wereinvestigatedinchickensfrom1dayto8weeksofage.In1-day-oldchickens40plaqueformingunits(PFU)ofILTviruscaused55%mortalitywithin8day
6、s.Atleast500PFUwasneededtoachievecomparablemortalityat3weeksofageandthisincreasedto4,500PFUofILTvirusby6to8weeksofage.Acombinationofsurgicalbursectomyat1dayoldandcyclophosphamidetreatmentablatedtheabilityofchickenstogeneratehumoralantibodytoILTvirus,butdidnotimpairthe
