3、enceofinteractionswithamoleculeoraquantumdot.Bychoosingtheappropriatelevelspacingforthequantumemitter,onecaneithersuppressorenhancethenonlinearfrequencyconversion.Werevealtheunderlyingmechanismforthiseect,whichisalreadyobservedinrecentexperiments:(i)Suppress
4、ionoccurssimplybecausetransparencyinducedbyFanoresonancedoesnotallowanexcitationattheconvertedfrequency.(ii)Enhancementemergessincenonlinearprocesscanbebroughttoresonance.Pathinterferenceeectcancelsthenonresonantfrequencyterms.Wedemonstratetheunderlyingphysi
5、csusingasimpliedmodel,andweshowthatthepredictionsofthemodelareingoodagreementwiththe3-dimensionalboundaryelementmethod(MNPBEMtoolbox)simulations.Here,weconsiderthesecondharmonicgenerationinaplasmonicconverterasanexampletodemonstratethecontrolmechanism.Thephe
