3、enceofinteractionswithamoleculeoraquantumdot.Bychoosingtheappropriatelevelspacingforthequantumemitter,onecaneithersuppressorenhancethenonlinearfrequencyconversion.Werevealtheunderlyingmechanismforthise ect,whichisalreadyobservedinrecentexperiments:(i)Suppress

4、ionoccurssimplybecausetransparencyinducedbyFanoresonancedoesnotallowanexcitationattheconvertedfrequency.(ii)Enhancementemergessincenonlinearprocesscanbebroughttoresonance.Pathinterferencee ectcancelsthenonresonantfrequencyterms.Wedemonstratetheunderlyingphysi

5、csusingasimpli edmodel,andweshowthatthepredictionsofthemodelareingoodagreementwiththe3-dimensionalboundaryelementmethod(MNPBEMtoolbox)simulations.Here,weconsiderthesecondharmonicgenerationinaplasmonicconverterasanexampletodemonstratethecontrolmechanism.Thephe
