2、ltersinGe-dopedsilicaopticalfibersisdescribed.Thefilterscanhavecomplexresponseprofilesandaretunableinfrequencybymechanicalstrain.Theobservationofphotosensitivityinthecoreregiontothefiber.TheinputendofthefiberisclampedinofGe-dopedsilicaopticalfiberswasrecentlyreported,'thefusedquartzjawsofav

3、iselikemountthatcanbeandthiseffectwasusedtoproducenarrow-band-accuratelypositionedpiezoelectricallytopermitprecisewaveguidereflectionfiltersfortheconstructionofacouplingoftheargonbeamtothefiber.Thefarendofdistributed-feedbackgaslaser.Thefiltersareappar-thefiberisclampedinjawsattachedtoasect

4、ionofentlypermanentlyinducedinthefibers,andwehavespringsteel,whichservestoapplythedesiredamountobservednosignificantdecayordegradationoftheoflongitudinalstress.Thespringalsoservestoreducedevicesoverperiodsofseveraldays.thedetuningeffectsofvibrationsthatmayproduceInthisLetter,wedescribeindet

5、ailtheexperimentalrelativemotionbetweenthetwoendmounts.Thetechniquesusedtoproduceandcharacterizethesemotionistranslatedintospringflexureratherthanhigh-spectralresolutiondevices.Themeasurementofchangesintensiononthefiber,aswouldoccurwithanthefiltercharacteristicsshowsthatthefilterscanbeinfle

6、xiblemount.Thequartztubesurroundingthemadeextremelynarrowband(<200MHz).Thisresultfibershieldsitfromthermaleffectsthatwouldbein-isexpected,sincethefiltersareformedoverlonglengthsducedbyaircurrentsaroundthefiber.Shieldingoffiberandareaccuratelycharacterizedaslength-againstthermaleffectsandthe
