2、fWuhanUniversitycanbetracedbacktoZiqiangInstitute,whichwasfoundedin1893byZhangZhidong,thethengovernorofHubeiProvinceandHunanProvinceinthelateQingDynasty.Intheprocessofdevelopmentandevolution,theinstitutechangeditsnameseveraltimesbeforeitwasfinallynamedWuhanNationalUniversityin192
3、8.ItisoneoftheearliestcomprehensivenationaluniversitiesinmodernChina.Bytheendof1946,theuniversityhadestablished6colleges,thecollegesofliberalart,law,sciences,engineering,agricultureandmedicine.In2000,anamalgamationoftheformerWuhanUniversity,WuhanUniversityofHydraulicandElectricEn
4、gineering,WuhanTechnicalUniversityofSurveyingandMapping,andHubeiMedicalUniversitywasannounced,whichusheredinanewerainits100-oddyearsofdevelopment.Forthepastcentury,WuhanUniversityhasbuiltanelegantpalatialarchitecturalcomplexofprimitivesimplicitywhichblendsperfectlytheeasternarchi
5、tecturalstylewiththatofthewest.Itishonoredasthe"MostBeautifulUniversityinChina."Furthermore,WuhanUniversity'scentennialhumanisticaccumulationboilsdowntoitssuccinctmotto,thatis,"Self-improvement,Perseverance,Truth-seeking&Innovation."Sinceitsestablishment,WuhanUniversityhascultiva
