3、stractSportsnutritionisaconstantlyevolvingfieldwithhundredsofresearchpaperspublishedannually.Forthisreason,keepinguptodatewiththeliteratureisoftendifficult.ThispaperisafiveyearupdateofthesportsnutritionreviewarticlepublishedastheleadpapertolaunchtheJISS
4、Nin2004andpresentsawell-referencedoverviewofthecurrentstateofthesciencerelatedtohowtooptimizetrainingandathleticperformancethroughnutrition.Morespecifically,thispaperprovidesanoverviewof:1.)Thedefinitionalcategoryofergogenicaidsanddietarysupplements;2.)
5、Howdietarysupplementsarelegallyregulated;3.)Howtoevaluatethescientificmeritofnutri-tionalsupplements;4.)Generalnutritionalstrategiestooptimizeperformanceandenhancerecovery;and,5.)Anoverviewofourcurrentunderstandingoftheergogenicvalueofnutritionanddietar
