3、andforthecoststructureofitsITshops,oldhabitsaredying.Asretailersmoveoutoftherecessionarymind-setandprepareforbetterdays,newwaysofdoingbusinessareemerging.Newtechnologyadoptionmodelsareafootacrosstheindustry.Retailtechnologistsunderstandthattheymustdomorewithless.Cl

4、oudcomputingintheformofsoftwareasaservice(SaaS)standstobenefitfromthisshiftintechnologyadoptionpatterns.Thisresearchseekstointroducethekeyissuesincloudcomputingwithintheretailindustrysegmentsfortechnologyandserviceprovidersinterestedinthismarketopportunity.KeyFindi

5、ngsRetailersexpectingtoacquireamajorityoftheirhardwareandsoftwareassetsthroughtechnology-as-a-serviceofferings—whilesignificant,at19.7%—arestilllessthantheall-industryaverageof23.9%(seeNote1).Retailers'useofSaaSapplicationsinitiallyfocusedonmerchandising,businessin
