4、endentlyin1911,L.F.Richardsonwhohadalreadybeeninterestedinfinitedifferences,begantodreamofaforecastfactoryinwhichseveralthousandpeoplewouldcomputetheweather.OnceRichardsonbecameawareoftheBjerknesworkithadaconsiderableinfluenceonhissubsequentactivities.TheEmergenceofNumerical
5、WeatherPrediction:Richardson'sDreamDuetointerruptionsduringthewaryear,severalrevisionsandproblemswithfunding,itwas11yearsbeforeRichardson’s(1922)nowfamousbookonWeatherPredictionbyNumericalProcesswaspublished.HewasamostinterestingpersonandAshford(1985)haswrittenhisbiography.
6、Richardson’sbookisremarkableontwoaccounts.Hewasoneofthefirsttosetoutthefundamentalequationsofthedynamicsandphysicsoftheatmosphereinasystematicwayandheproducedaseriesofcomputingformssuitableforthenumericalsolutionofthosefundamentalequations.Richardsondevelopedasetofpartiald
