5、strialstructureusinginput-outputtablesfordifferentperiodsfrom1997to2005.WefindthatthedomesticproductioninducementcoefficientsofChina’smaterialandmachineryindustrieshavedeclinedwhiletheimportcoefficientsoftheseindustrieshaverisen.ThisindicatesthatChinahasstreng

6、theneditspositionas“thefactoryoftheworld”,inwhichitimportspartsandmaterials,processesorassemblesthem,andthenshipsthefinalproducts.ItalsoindicatesthatChina’sresource-securingactivitieshaveincreasinglyintensifiedbecauseoftheincreasingdemandforresourcesandenergya

7、ssociatedwithitshigheconomicgrowth.WethencalculatethedegreeofChina’sincomedependenceonforeigndemand,whichshowsadramaticrise,especiallyafter2002,shortlyafterChinajoinedtheWTOandembarkedonliberalizingawiderangeofmarketsincludingthoseofbothgoodsandservices.Lastly

8、,itisshownthatthelaborinputinducementcoefficientfortheagriculturesectorisbyfarthelargestandthattheratesoflaborinputinducementdiffersignificantlybyindustrydependingonwhethertheyarel
