4、ON1.1BackgroundTheHongKongWasteManagementAssociation(HKWMA)andtheEnvironmentalDivisionoftheHongKongInstitutionofEngineers(HKIE)jointlyorganizedthisdelegationtovisitthewastemanagementfacilitiesinShanghaifrom15to19February2004.Theobjectivesofthedelegationweretogetfirs

5、t-handinformationonthewastemanagementpolicyandthedevelopmentofwastemanagementfacilitiesinShanghai;andestablishnetworkwiththecounterpartsinthewastemanagementprofession.Thedelegationconsistedof14representativesfromdifferentorganizations,includinggovernmentdepartments,

6、wastemanagementcontractors,wastemanagementfacilitiesoperators,universityandsubventedorganization,consultingfirmsandconstructioncompanies.ThedelegateshadhadfruitfulexchangeswithgovernmentofficialsoftheShanghaiEnvironmentalProtectionBureau,PudongEnvironmentalProtectio

7、nBureauandShanghaiCityAppearance&EnvironmentalSanitationAdministrationBureau;andprofessionalsofShanghaiInstituteofDesign&ResearchinEnvironmentalEngineeringonwastemanagementpoliciesandpractices.Throughfrankdiscussion,thedelegateswereabletogetgreaterinsightintotheexpe
