3、hisclusteremploysthehighspeedcommunicationofperformancesortingprogramforourHPVM[6]Win-FastMessages(fromtheHPVMsystem).Thestudyex-dowsNTcluster,bothtodemonstratehighperfor-posestheperformancelimitationsandkeyarchitecturalissuesinachievinghighperformance.KeydistinguishingmancesortingonCOTSc
4、lustersandtoevaluateourfeaturesofoureortincludetheuseofMPI,Windowssoftwareandhardwareclustersystems,comparingNTandtheHPVMsoftware.Oureortbuildsonthethemtosimilarsystems.WefocusontheMinute-BerkeleyNOWSort,adaptedandtunedforanHPVMSortbenchmark,avariantoftheDatamationsort,NT-cluster.andint
5、roducedin1994bythecreatorsofAlphaSortUsing60nodes,wesorted10.3GBin56.51seconds[14]asaconstanttimebenchmark,becauseitoeredbreakingthefastestpublishedMinutesortrecordofwhichtheopportunitytoevaluateourworkwithsimilar1weareaware.Eachmachineinourclusterconsistedofworksandenvironmentsforthesam
6、ebenchmark.Atdualprocessor,300MHzPentiumII's,with512MBofthetimewebegan,thecurrentholderoftheMinute-memory,makingpossibletheuseofaonepasssort,andSortrecordwastheBerkeleyNOWSort[7,8],whichasingle4.5GB10000RPMdisks.sorted8.41GBonaclusterof95UltraSPARCsys-temsconnectedby0.64GbpsMyrinet.Oursta
