4、ITYOFCOHESION3.1.TheCityCenterwithGeographicalUniqueness–RiversideAreaThegeographicaluniquenesscontributestocity’sidentityinanirreplaceableway,forexampleFOREWORDthebayandhillsofSanFrancisco,thebeachandshorelineofBoston,andthegreatlakeofChicago.Theblending

5、ofnaturalgeographicalfeaturesandmanmadecityscapeandtheinter-actionbetweenthemhavecreatedgreatcitiesinnumerouscaseswithdifferentsocialandhis-toricalsettings.Theriverpassingthroughcityisundoubtedlythiskindofnaturalasset.Inourscheme,thereisOVERVIEWenoughcons

6、iderationtotheriver’spotentialtoreinforcetheuniqueurbanimageofFoshanCity.Alongbothsidesoftheriverwherewillbethefutureheartofthecity,wedesignaseriesofparallelelementstovitalizethespace.Inthesequencefromtherivertohinterlandtheele-mentsare:greenopenspaceforr

7、ecreationandfortheprotectiontotheriver;thetree-alignedavenueswithdualfunctionsoflandscapeandtransportation;andthewindinglyarrangedbuild-ingfacadesinrichforms.Toprovidepeopletheexcitingandconvenientwayexploringthewater,weproposethecruiselinesandmarinainthe

8、river.Withinthebroadgreenopenspace,PLANNINGCONTEXTtherearevariousculturalandrecreationalfacilitiesfordiversifiedactivities.Thedesignoftheavenueswillpayattentiontotravelers’visualandspatialexperiencesandencouragemore
