2、ghtwosimplemodels,thefirstmwhichscalarsaretreatedasfundamentalandthesecondmwhichtheyarecompositeobjects,theposslbdltythatrepresentationscontainingdoublychargedscalarsmayparticipateinthespontaneousbreakdownoftheSU(2)×U(I)symmetryofelectroweakinteractions.Weshowthat
3、suchexoticHlggsbosonsmaypossessunsuppressedcouphngstopairsofgaugevectorbosonsandcommentontheobservablhtyofthesechargedHlggsbosonsthroughtheCahn-Dawsonmechanisminhigh-energyhadroncolhdersI.IntroductionUntilweknowexactlywhatitisthatbreakstheSU(2)×U(I)gaugesymmetryof
4、theelectroweakinteractions,wetheoristswouldbewelladvisedtospendagoodfractionofourtimenotspeculatingonthenatureofphysicsatthePlanckscale,butinvestigatingpossiblestructuresforSU(2)×U(1)-breakingphysicsandtheirexperimentalsignatures.Thelastisparticularlycrucialbecaus
5、ethephysicsofSU(2)×U(1)breakingisnotoriouslygoodathiding.ItseffectsonphysicsattheWmassscaleandbelowaresubtleand/orverysmall.PerhapstheclearestsignalthatanewparticleisinvolvedinthephysicsofSU(2)×U(1)breakingwouldbeacouplingtoapairofelectroweakgaugeparticles.Forexam
6、ple,inthesimplestmodelofSU(2)×U(1)breaking,bytheVEVofafundamentalHiggsdoublet,theW÷WandZZcouplingsoftheremnantHiggsscalararemuchlargerthanitscouplingstoanyofthelightquarks.Ifitsmassislargeenough,theHiggsdecayspredominantlyintothetwogaugebosonchannels.CahnandDawson
7、haveshownthatforaveryheavyHiggsboson,thesecouplingscandominatetheproductionoftheHiggs,aswellasitsdecay[1].Inthisnote,weexaminesomecouplingsofotherscalarmesonstopairsofelectroweakgaugebosons,inexoticchannelssuchasW÷W+.Insect.2,wewillseethatsuchcouplingscanoccurinth
8、esimplestHiggsmodelsinwhichdoublychargedparticlesappear,andthattheymeasuretheextenttowhichexoticscalarrepresenta-tionsparticipateinthephysicsofSU(2)×U(1
