3、ropicdamagecontinuummodel.Themodelwasenrichedbynon-localtermstoavoidapathologicalmesh-sensitivityandtoobtainawell-posedrateboundaryvalueproblem.Theconstitutivemodelwasusedtosimulatelocalizationofdeformationin3benchmarkproblems:adouble-edgenotchedspecimen
4、underuniaxialtensionandanotchedbeamunderthree-andfour-pointbending.Attentionwaslaidontheeffectofacharacteristiclengthontheload-displacementcurvesandstrainlocalization.TheFE-resultswerecomparedwithexperimentsandothernumericalstudies.Keywords:characteristic

6、canoccurascracks(modeI)ifcohesivepropertiesaredominantorshearzones(modeII)iffrictionalprop-ertiesprevail.Asaresultofstrainlocalization,materialsofteningtakesplaceandasignificantreductionofthematerialstiffnessduringcyclicloading-occurs.Anunderstandingofthem
