4、168-176.Abstract:Thedifferenceinleafphotosynthesisandsenescencecharacteristicsoflow-yieldingandlowN-efficiency,high-yieldingandmediumN-efficiency,high-yieldingandhighN-efficiencyricecultivarswasinvestigatedusingsixrep-resentativejaponicavarietiesundertheiroptimumNlevels,resp
5、ectively.Theresultswereasfollow:comparedwithlow-yieldingvarieties,thehigh-yieldingonesshowedhigherpopulationleafareaindex(LAI),higherleafarearatesofproductivetillersandtop3leaves,higherflagleafchlorophyllcontent(SPADvalue)andnetphotosyntheticrate,andslowersenescenceofleaves.
6、Amonghigh-yieldingvarieties,asthenitrogenefficiencyincreased,thepopulationleafar-eaindex(LAI)reducedattheearlyandmiddlegrowthstages(N-n,jointing,andfullheading),andincreasedatma-turing.Thoughwithnosignificantchangesduringearlygrainfillingstage(0-10daysafterfullheading),thene
7、tpho-tosyntheticrateremarkablyincreasedinmiddleandlategrainfillingstages(20-40daysafterfullheading),whichcouldmainlybeattributedtothelessbreaking-downofchlorophyll,ensuringthehigherCO2assimilationcapacityofleaves,thehigherSODactivityprovidingstrongantioxidantcapacityofthepla
