3、themostcontroversialtwo.Thegrammar-translationmethodhasbeenclaimedtobeoutdatedandnolongerapplicablewhileCommunicativeLanguageTeachinghasbeenfavoredasthemostefficientandapplicablemethod.Butaftermorethantwentyyearspractice,itturnsoutthatCommunicativeLang
4、uageTeachingisnotasefficientasithasbeensupposedtobe.Thereisaneedtoclarifythefocusesandapplicationsofthetwomethods.Andcomparedwithinstructionsofsoundsystemandgrammar,thevocabularyinstructionismoreimportantandpractical.Wordscarrythemostinformationincommu
5、nication.Thevocabularysizealearnermastersoftenpre-determineshisorherEnglishproficiency.Thisthesisanalyzesthevocabularyinstructionintwosetsoftextbooks:CollegeEnglishSelf-taughtTextbookandNewInterchangeEnglishforInternationalCommunication,whicharerespect
6、ivelybasedonthegrammar-translationmethodandCommunicativeLanguageTeaching.TheanalysisisbasedonStern’sframeworkforanalyzingthethreedilemmasinsecondlanguageteaching.Itshowsthatthegrammar-translationmethodandCommunicativeLanguageTeachinghavetheirownstrengt

8、nguageTeachingiEnglishVocabularyInstructionWangZhirong摘要本文通过对两套教材词汇教学的比较,分析了语法翻译法和交际教学法各自的特点和不同侧重。在英语教学中,语法翻译法和交际教学法是争论最多的两种方法。自20世纪80初交际教学法传入中国以来,外语教学界对传统语法翻译法的批判也随之而来。多数的观点都认为语法翻译法过时了,不能再适用社会发展对外语教学和外语人才培养的需求,而认为交际教学法才是行之有效的方法,在这样的方法指
