3、ecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/AbstractSinceelectromagneticgaugetheoryanditsgeneralization(Yang-Millsgaugefieldtheory)havesucceededinquantumfieldtheoryandparticlephysics,itrequiresthatthetheoryofgravitationalsobeagaugefieldtheoryundercertainlocalgaugesymmetri
4、es,e.g.,localLorentzorPoincaréinvariance.Thediscrepancybetweenunusuallylargequantumvacuumenergydensityandob-servationalcosmologymayindicatethatthegenericgravitytheoryofEinsteinisalow-energyphenomenologicaltheory,andamorefundamentaltheoryofgravitymightbehidd
5、enbehindit.Anewspin-connectiongaugetheoryforgravitationalinteractionathighenergies(closetothePlanckenergyscale)isintroduced.Insuchagravitationalgaugefieldtheory,thelocalLorentzgroupisthegaugesymmetrygroup,andthespin-affineconnectionservesasanon-Abelgaugefie
6、ld(fundamentaldynamicalvariable).Athird-orderdifferentialequationofmetriccanbeob-tainedasthegravitationalgaugefieldequation,wheretheEinsteinfieldequationofgravitationisafirst-integralsolution.Asthevacuumenergydensityisaconstant,thecovariantderivativeofitsen
7、ergy-momentumtensorunavoidablyvanishes.Therefore,thequantumvacuumenergytermdisappearsinthegravitationalgaugefieldequation,andtheanomalouslylargevacuumenergydensitydoesnotmakeapracticalcontributiontogravity.Thiswouldenableustoseekforanewroutetothelongstandin
8、gvacuum-energycosmologicalconstantproblem.Sometopicsrelevanttogravitationalgaugetheoryanditsapplicationsincosmologyarealsoaddressed.Forexample,thefive-dimensionalcosmologywithintheframeworkofthepresent
