2、hetheoryandourempiricalresearch,wededucethatChinaisnowinthestartingpointoftheThirdStageofIDPandtheoutwardFDIinChinawouldincreasesubstantiallyinthenext5-10years.Ourco-integrationanalysisshowsthatthereispositivecorrelationbetweenFDIandChineseeconomicgrowthinthelong-term.Ho

3、wever,thevalueofthecoefficientisverysmallatpresent.OurdistrictanalysissuggeststhatChina’soutwardFDIflowsarestillregionalandmainlyconcentratingontheAsianneighbourhoodcountries,whichisthestrategicchoiceofmostcountriesintheinitialstageofinvestmentdevelopment.However,withthe

4、growingeconomicstrengthofChina’senterpriseandtherequirementoffurthereconomicdevelopment,China’soutwardFDIhasdisplayedthefeatureofextendinggloballytosomedevelopednations.TooursurpriseisthatthemainlysectoraldistributionofChina’soutwardFDIliesinthesectorofinformationtransmi

5、ssion,computerserviceandsoftware,whichaccountfornearly61%ofthetotaloutwardFDI.ThisfindingseemsinconsistentwiththeconceptofIDP.Inordertoaccordwiththisconcept,ChinashoulddevelopitsoutwardFDIinthelabor-intensiveareas,havingcomparativeadvantages,suchasassemblymanufacturingan

6、dtextileindustry.OuranalysisofthestimulationoftheoutwardFDIsuggeststhatthemainreasonforChina’soutwardFDIflowsaremarketseeking,buttheresourceseekingandtechnologyacquisitionwouldincreaseinthefuture.ToinvestintheresourceexploitationorbuildupR&Dagenciesorhi-techSMEsintheinte
