3、damentalsteptofollowingcontentrepresentation,indexing,browsingandretrieval．Inthisdissertation,researcheffortsareconcentratedOiltheabovetopicanditsrelatedtechnique，whichinvolvesfeatureextraction,shotboundarydetection，semanticscene：detectionandvideoabstraction．Severalnovelandeff

4、ectivealgorithmsareproposedandvalidated．Forfeatureextraction,theauthorproposesaqualitativecameramotionclassificationapproach．AsSupportVectorMachines(SVM)hasaverygoodlearningcapacitywithlimitedsamplesetwithoutincorporatingproblemdomainknowledge,inthef'wststep，SVMisemployedtocla

5、ssifycameramotionoperationsintotwoclasses：translationandnon-translationoperations．Then,rotationandzoomoperationsaredistinguishedusingmotionvectots’locationanddirection．Thedirectionoftranslationoperationisalsoidentified．Forshotboundarydetection，ahierarchicalshotboundarydetectio
