2、ticaltransfer,andtechnologyofPassiveOpticalNetwork(PON).EPONemergestobeapromisingcandidateforthenext-generationbroadbandaccessnetworks.Inthedownstreamdirection,OpticalLinkTerminal(OLT)broadcastspacketstoallOpticalNetworkUnit(oNu).Intheupstreamdirection,multipleONUssharethesametransmissionchan
3、nelunderthecontrolofamulti-pointaccessschemeanddynamicbandwidthallocation(DBA).Recently,upstreamaccessandDBA,whichhaveimportantmeaninginimprovingthequalityofservice(OoS)andreducingpacketdelay,havebecomeahottopicforlocalarea.TheresearchismainlyfocusedonthedynamicbandwidthallocationschemesofEPO
4、Nupstreamchannel.Firstly,thisthesisdiscussedthedevelopmentoftheaccessnetwork,somekindsofcomparisonofPON.ThenfromdefinitionofEPONsystem,weilluminatestructureofEPONsystemandoperationprinciple,upanddownframe,analyzesthecharacteristicsandkeytechniquesofEPON.Secondly,forthestaticbandwidthallocatio
5、nandbasicDBAalgorithm(IPACTalgorithm),weanalyzesomestrategyproblemsintheprocessofbandwidthallocation,suchaspriorityqueuingschedulingandinterleavedpollingschemeshouldbctakeninaccounttoguaranteetheQoS.AfteranalyzingthedisadvantagesofthecurrentDBAalgorithms,thisthesispresentsanovelOoS-guaranteed
6、PredictedDBAalgorithm(AMDBA)inEPON.Toavoidthe”T+2”queuingdelayofhighpriorityservices,thealgorithmpredictsbandwidthrequirementsfordifferentservicesinasupercyclewhichismadeupofmulti—subcycles,andinasubcycleweallocatetheguaranteedbandwidthbyreferringtothepredictedolle.Besides,weaddaccessmanageme
