2、TThelinklayerprotocolshaveimportantroleinthecommunicationsystem.IntheISOmodel,thelinklayerprotocol,inthemidofphysicallayerandnetworklayer,canprovideintegratedlinkguaranteeforthenetworklayerbyshieldingthecharacteristicsofphysicallayer.Duetothespecialityofwirelessworking
3、environment,correspondinglinklayerprotocolsshouldhandlewithmoredetailedphysicalproblem.Hence,thelayerisusuallyfurtherdividedintomediaaccesscontrollayerandlogiclinklayer,andconstitutesimportantcontentsofwirelesscommunicationsystemairinterface.Thethesisisdividedintotwoma
4、inparts.Chapteronetochapterthreecomprisesthefirstpart,inwhichtheperformanceoflinklayerprotocolsintheidealenvironmentaresummarizedandoptimized.Forthesecondpart,whichiscomprisedfromchapterfourtochaptersix,interactiveeffectsbetweenlinklayerandotherlayersintheISOmodelarean
5、alyzed.Theimportanceofresearchonlinklayerinthefuturewirelesscommunicationisdescribedfirst.AftertheclassificationoflinklayerprotocolsanddetailedstudyonthePRMAprocotolsfamilyisgiven,sometypicalprotocolimprovementmethodologiesonthetimedomainarediscussed.Amodifiedschemebas
