4、gift.TheRussianTsar'sreturnpresentwasnolessoriginal:55choicegrenadiers.Afteralongshippingtimeandcomplexroute(Berlin-Koenigsburg-Memel-Riga-St.Petersburg)theAmberRoomfinallyreacheditsdestination.TheboxeswereunpackedbuttheRussianmastersdidnotmanagetoreconstr
5、ucttheAmberRoom,anditwasforsometimeforgotten. WhenEmpressElizabethstartedreigninginthe1740s,shecommissionedherchiefarchitect,BartolomeoFrancescoRastrelli,tousetheamberfordecorationofoneoftheroomsoftheWinterPalace.Theroomwastoolarge,andthearchitectusedmirro
6、redpilastersandpaintedadditionalpanelsin"fakeamber".In1755,theAmberRoomwastransferredtotheCatherinePalaceinTsarskojeSelowherethenewroomwastobeconstructed.TheroominthePalacewasagaintoolargefortheAmberStudy,andtheamberpartswerereassembledonthewallsalternatin
