2、hcentury．ThomasAlvatheyoungestofSamuel'ssevenchildrenwasbornin1847.　　Thomaswasanunusuallycuriouschild．Evenatanearlyagehelovedtoreadandmakeexperiments．Becausehewassodreamyandquietateacheronceaccusedhimofbeingstupid．Thomas'smotherwassodispleasedbythisremarkthatshetookhersonoutofschoolandnev

3、ersenthimback.Shetookchargeofhiseducationherselfandtaughthimreadinghistoryscienceandphilosophy．Edisonwasaveryquickreaderandherememberedeverything．Oncehegottheideaofstartingatthefirstshelfofalargelibraryandreadingeverythinginit．Butafterreadingthroughfifteenfeetofbookshegaveupthisambition.
