3、forwhichourfbrebearsfoughtarestillatissuearoundtheglobethebeliefthattherightsofmancomenotfromthegenerosityofthestate,butfromthehandofGod.Wedarenotforgettodaythatwearetheheirsofthatfirstrevolution.Letthewordgoforthfromthistimeandplace,tofriendandfoealike,thatthetorchhas
4、beenpassedtoanewgenerationofAmericansbominthiscentury,temperedbywar,disciplinedbyahardandbitterpeace,proudofourancientheritageandunwillingtowitnessorpermittheslowundoingofthosehumanrightstowhichthisNationhasalwaysbeencommitted,andtowhichwearecommittedtodayathomeandarou
5、ndtheworld・Leteverynationknow,whetheritwishesuswellorill,thatweshallpayanyprice,bearanyburden,meetanyhardship,supportanyfriend,opposeanyfoe,inordertoassurethesurvivalandthesuccessofliberty・Thismuchwepledgeandmore.Tothoseoldallieswhoseculturalandspiritualoriginsweshare,
6、wepledgetheloyaltyoffaithfulfriends.United,thereislittlewecannotdoinahostofcooperativeventures.Divided,thereislittlewecandofbrwedarenotmeetapowerfulchallengeatoddsandsplitasunder.TothosenewStateswhomwewelcometotheranksofthefree,wepledgeourwordthatoneformofcolonialcontr
