2、d)Introduction(課程簡述)21stCenturyeducationneedstopreparestudentsforaknowledgesocietyinwhichknowledgecreationandcollaborationiscritical.Thepurposeofthiscourseistoaddresstheseimportantchallengesbasedonthelatestresearchonknowledgecreationandnewlearningdesignssupported
3、bycutting-edgetechnologies.AsdescribedinarecentUNESCO(2005)reporttitledTowardsKnowledgeSocieties,“Themagnitudeoftechnologicalchange,whichoverrecentdecadeshasaffectedthemeansofknowledgecreation,transmissionandprocessing,havebroughtanumberofexpertstohypothesizethat
4、westandonthethresholdofaneweraofknowledge"(p.47).Inresponsetothissocialandtechnologicalchange,manyscholarshavepointedoutthatthekindoflearningcompetencesandknowledgeskillsneededforpreparingstudentstoenterknowledgesocietieshasalsobeenundergreattransformation.Forexa
5、mple,asidentifiedfromanumberofstudiesthatexaminefutureworkplaceskills(e.g.,U.S.Dept.ofLabor,1992),TrillingandHood(1999)arguethatthemostessentialknowledge-agesurvivalskillsarethefollowing7Cs:(1)criticalthinking-and-doing,(2)creativity,(3)collaboration&community-bu
6、ilding,(4)cross-culturalunderstanding,(5)communication,(6)computing,and(7)careerandlearningself-reliance,managingchange,andlifelonglearning.Accordingly,newwaysofteachingandlearningarerequiredinordertohelpstudentsdevelopsuchskills.Thequestionis“How?”Thepurposeofth
7、iscourseistoofferapossibility—i.e.,knowledge-buildingpedagogy—andtoexploreitspotentialsandlimitationsinpreparingstudentsforenteringintoknowledgesocietiesand,atthesametime,tounderstandtheroleoflearningtechnologyinfacilitatingthisprocessofeducationaltransformation.
