2、iplesandprovisionsoftheConvention,notingtheresultsofworkdonebythetwoAdhocWorkingGroups,Endorsingdecisionx/CP.15ontheAdhocWorkingGrouponLong-termCooperativeActionanddecisionx/CMP.5thatrequeststheAdhocWorkingGrouponFurtherCommitmentsofAnnexIPartiesundertheKyotoPro

3、tocoltocontinueitswork,haveagreedonthisCopenhagenAccordwhichisoperationalimmediately.1.Weunderlinethatclimatechangeisoneofthegreatestchallengesofourtime.Weemphasizeourstrongpoliticalwilltourgentlycombatclimatechangeinaccordancewiththeprincipleofcommonbutdifferen

4、tiatedresponsibilitiesandrespectivecapabilities.ToachievetheultimateobjectiveoftheConventiontostabilizegreenhousegasconcentrationintheatmosphereatalevelthatwouldpreventdangerousanthropogenicinterferencewiththeclimatesystem,weshall,recognizingthescientificviewtha

5、ttheincreaseinglobaltemperatureshouldbebelow2degreesCelsius,onthebasisofequityandinthecontextofsustainabledevelopment,enhanceourlong-termcooperativeactiontocombatclimatechange.Werecognizethecriticalimpactsofclimatechangeandthepotentialimpactsofresponsemeasureson

6、countriesparticularlyvulnerabletoitsadverseeffectsandstresstheneedtoestablishacomprehensiveadaptationprogrammeincludinginternationalsupport.2.Weagreethatdeepcutsinglobalemissionsarerequiredaccordingtoscience,andasdocumentedbytheIPCCFourthAssessmentReportwithavie

7、wtoreduceglobalemissionssoastoholdtheincreaseinglobaltemperaturebelow2degreesCelsius,andtakeactiontomeetthisobjectiveconsistentwithscienceandonthebasisofequity.Weshouldcooperateinachievingthepeakingofglobalandnationalemissionsassoonaspossible,recognizingthatthet

8、imeframeforpeakingwillbelongerindevelopingcountriesandbearinginmindthatsocialandeconomicdevelopmentandpovertyeradicationarethefirstandoverridingprioritiesofdeveloping
