2、sfocusesontheforeignchildren’sliteraturetranslation(FCLT)intheLateQingDynasty(1898-1911).Undertheguidanceofpolysystemtheory,thisthesisattemptstoworkoutthecomplicatednetworkofrelationsunderlyingthephenomenon.Inthisway,theemphasisofthisstudyisputontherelationshipbetweenFCLTandsystemsin

3、cludingsocialbackground,thecanonizedliteratureandchildren’sliteratureintheLateQingDynasty.Onthebasisofthis,thestudycomestoaconclusionaboutthepositionassumedandthefunctionservedbyFCLTintheLateQingDynasty.Besides“Introduction”and“Conclusion”,thisthesisconsistsofthreechapters.“Introduct

4、ion”mainlydealswiththeresearchbackground,themethodsemployedaswellasthesignificanceofthisstudy;Thefirstchapteristheliteraturereviewonthestudiesofthechildren’sliteratureandFCLTintheLateQingDynasty;Thesecondchaptertakespolysystemtheoryasthetheoreticalfoundationofthisstudy;Thethirdchapte

5、risthemainbodyofthisthesisinwhichadetailedanalysisofFCLTonthebasisofpolysystemtheoryispresentedintermsoftherelationshipbetweenFCLTandtheabove-mentionedthreesystemsintheLateQingDynasty.Atlast,aconclusionismadeaboutthestatusofFCLTintheLateQingDynasty.Inaddition,limitationsofthisstudyar

6、epointedoutandsuggestionsforfurtherstudygiven.AsfortherelationshipbetweensocialbackgroundandFCLTintheLateQingDynasty,amacrostudyofthelattershowsthatFCLTmadeitsfirstappearanceintheLateQingDynastytomeettheneedofthesociety.Inaddition,undertheinfluenceofthecomplicatedsituationofthesociet

7、y,itdisplaysdiversityintermsofmotivations,translatorsaswellastargetreaders.However,despitethefactthatquiteanumberofworksweretranslatedtofulfillthetranslator’sattempttoarouseasenseofpatriotismamongreadersortospreadChristianity,thereexistedworkstranslatedparticularlyforchildren.Thisisu
