3、online3August2010AbstractBiomorphicSiC(bioSiC)isalowcostSiC/Sicompositeobtainedbymeltinfiltrationofcarbonpreformsobtainedfromthepyrolysisofcelluloseprecursors.TheporosityandporesizedistributionofbioSiCcanbetailoredforspecificapplicationsbyadequateselectionofthewoodprecursor.
4、NaturalandartificialindustrialwoodswereexploredaspossiblebioSiCprecursors.Siliconwasremovedbychemicaletching.Relevantmicrostruc-turalparameterssuchasporesizedistribution,totalporosity,andpermeabilitywerecharacterized.Sincethefiltrationprocessinvolveslargepressuregradientsalo
5、ngthematerialathightemperatures,mechanicalpropertiesofporousbioSiCfromthedifferentprecursorswereevaluatedatroomtemperatureand800◦C.ThefeasibilityofporousbioSiCasafiltrationmaterialforhightemperaturegasificationprocessesisdiscussedintermsoftheseproperties.MDF-bioSiCisshowntob
