4、imidestoα-ketoesters,withtheultimategoalofsynthesizingbeta-hydroxy-alpha-aminoacids.Thenecessityofmoreconventionalmeanstodevelopcatalytic,enantioselective,anddiastereoselectiveroutestothesemoietiescanbeseenintheirpresenceinmanynaturalproducts,includingvancomyc
5、in.Redoxneutralchemistryhasgainedstrongpopularityduetoitsadvantageousqualities,including:itsgreen,environmental-friendlycharacteristics,lackofusingexpensiveorharmfuloxidantsandreductants,andabilitytobuildupmolecularcomplexitywithlimitednumberofsteps.Underthisb
6、ranchofchemistry,Iwasabletodevelopanacid-assistedindoleadditiontoortho-aminoaldehydesleadingtothesynthesisofquinolinederivatives.Thesecompounds,althoughnotstudiedextensively,havebeendiscoveredtobepotentsirtuinproteininhibitorsandprecursorstonumberofsimplenatur
7、alproducts,includingcryptosanguinolentine.Afurtherstudyevaluatingsecondaryaminobenzaldehydesandindoleshowsthatthesynthesisoftheantimalarialagentneocryptolepinecouldbeeasilyiiachieved.Thissimplemethodologyalsomakesitpossibletosynthesizeanaloguesofthisimportantn
