3、poormachinabilityofsuchAMCslimitstheirapplication.ThepresentstudyfocusesonthepreparationofcenosphereflyashreinforcedAl6061alloysbycompocastingmethod.X-raydiffractionanalysisofthepreparedAMCsexposesthepresenceofcenosphereparticleswithoutanyformationofotherintermetalliccompounds.Inthisstudy,electr

4、icaldischargemachining(EDM)wasengagedtoexaminethemachinabilityofthepreparedmetalmatrixcomposite(MMCs).ThemeasuredperformancecharacteristicsforthevariouscombinationsofinputprocessparameterswereconsideredtobeMRR,EWRandSR.Facecenteredcentralcompositedesign(CCD)ofresponsesurfacemethod(RSM)wasemploye

5、dtodesignthenumberofexperimentaltrialsrequiredandahybridapproachofgrey-basedresponsesurfacemethodology(GRSM)wasimposedforpredictingtheoptimalcombinationofprocessingparameterinEDMprocess.Generousimprovementwasobservedintheperformancecharacteristicsobtainedbyemployingboththeoptimalsettingofmachini
