3、tialusersandco-operatorsthemainpurposesandthefunctioningoftheCentremaybesummarizedasfollows:everyyear,duringthesummer,Sessions(threeorfourasarule)ondifferentthemesfrompureandappliedmathematicsareofferedbyapplicationtomathematiciansfromallcountries.Eachse
4、ssionisgenerallybasedonthreeorfourmaincourses(24−30hoursoveraperiodof6-8workingdays)heldfromspecialistsofinternationalrenown,plusacertainnumberofseminars.AC.I.M.E.Session,therefore,isneitheraSymposium,norjustaSchool,butmaybeablendofboth.Theaimisthatofbri
5、ngingtotheattentionofyoungerresearcherstheorigins,laterdevelopments,andperspectivesofsomebranchoflivemathematics.Thetopicsofthecoursesaregenerallyofinternationalresonanceandthepartici-pationofthecoursescovertheexpertiseofdifferentcountriesandcontinents.S
6、uchcombination,gaveanexcellentopportunitytoyoungparticipantstobeacquaintedwiththemostadvanceresearchinthetopicsofthecoursesandthepossibilityofaninterchangewiththeworldfamousspecialists.Thefullimmersionatmosphereofthecoursesandthedailyexchangeamongpartici
