3、leculeswecancharacterizethenanogapformedbyametalnanoparticleandaflatmetalsubstrate,orthegapbetweentwosphericalmetalnanoparticles.ThesenanogapsareindeedSERS-activesitesandtheapparentsizeof“hotspots”isfoundtobeverylimited.TouseSERSforroutinechemicalidentifica
4、tions,thesubstratesshouldbestable,reproduciblyprepared,inexpensive,andeasytomake.WeintroduceamethodforthefacilefabricationofAgthinfilms,simplybysoakingglasssubstratesinethanolicsolutionsofAgNO3andbutylamine,andtheirapplicationasefficientSERSsubstrates.Ag-co
