2、unterpartsinmodernGerman,aswellasrelatedlanguagessuchasDutch,Swedish,Danish,andNorwegian.ItalicwordsoftenhavetheircounterpartsinmodernFrench,aswellasrelatedItalian,Spanish,andPortuguese,andshareacommonancestorinLatin.GermanicandItaliclanguagesthemselveshadacommonancestorinIndo-European,sothatso
3、memodernEnglishwordshave'relatives'inbothbranches.Thisisespeciallytrueofthemostfundamentalwords,suchasfamilyrelationships,numbers,orobjectsofthenaturalworld.IngeneralitistheeverydayandconcretewordsthatareGermanicinorigin,andthemoreformalandabstractthatareItalic.Ofcourse,thereareotherlanguagesth
