2、7,USAAnimalandhumanstudieshaveshownthatindividualschoosematespartlyonthebasisofsimilarity,atendencyreferredtoashomogamy.Severalauthorshavesuggestedthataspecificinnaterecognitionmechanism,phenotypicmatching,allowstheorganismtodetectsimilarothersbytheirresemblancetoitself.However,
3、severalobjectionshavebeenraisedtothistheoryonbothempiricalandtheoreticalgrounds.Here,wereportthathomogamyinhumansisattainedpartlybysexualimprintingontheopposite-sexparentduringchildhood.Wehypothesizedthatchildrenfashionamentalmodeloftheiropposite-sexparent’sphenotypethatisusedas
4、atemplateforacquiringmates.Todisentangletheeffectsofphenotypicmatchingandsexualimprinting,adopteddaughtersandtheirrearingfamilieswereexam-ined.Judgesfoundsignificantresemblanceonfacialtraitsbetweendaughter’shusbandandheradoptivefather.Furthermore,thiseffectmaybemodifiedbythequal
