3、)andÔÔhetero-regime;incontrast,SRawassigniÞcantlyreducedduringtrophicÕÕrespiration(SRh:bymicroorganismsandsoildroughtinspruce,andamountedthentoonly25%ofSRt.Infaunainbulksoil),inamatureEuropeanbeech/Norwayparallel,Þne-rootproductionwasdecreasedduring2003by-1-1spruceforest.SRaandSRhweredisti
4、nguishedunderneathafactorofsixinspruce(from750to130mgla),butgroupsofbeechandsprucetreesusingtherootexclusionremainedatlevelssimilartothosein2002inbeech(about-1-1method.SeasonalcoursesofSRaandSRhwerestudiedfrom470mgla).Thisspecies-speciÞcrootresponseto2002to2004,withthesummerof2003beingextr
5、aordi-droughtwasrelatedtoastrongerdeclineofSRainsprucenarilywarmanddryinCentralEurope.We(1)analyzedthe(byabout70%)comparedtobeech(byabout50%).Thesoiltemperature(Ts)andmoisturesensitivityofSRaandsensitivityofSRaandSRhtochangingTsandavailablesoilSRhunderneathbothtreespecies,and(2)examinedwhe
6、therwaterwasstrongerinSRathanSRhinspruce,butnotsoindroughtcauseddifferentialdeclineofSRabetweensprucebeech.ItisconcludedthatSRadeterminestheeffectofprolongeddroughtontheCefßuxfromsoiltoalargerextentinsprucethanbeech,havingpotentialimplicationsCommunicatedbyA.Roloff.forrespectiveforesttypes
