4、,especially,e-commerce,e-business,ande-negotiation,trusthasbecomeamajorcomponentforthesuccessoftheseapplications.Therefore,thereisagreatneedforunderstandingthetrustconcept.Inaddition,trusthasbecomeanintegralcomponentinfuturenetworkinfrastructures.Forexample,inpeer-to-peernetworks,users
5、(ornodes)areallowedtoshareandexchangedata,anactivitythatnecessitatestheestablishmentoftrustbetweendifferentusers.Inaddition,theperformanceofsuchcollaborativenetworkwouldbegreatlydegradedifnoeffectivetrustmeasuresareimplemented.Severalstudieshaveconsidereddifferentdefinitionsoftrust.Wes
6、tateheretwodifferentdefinitionsoftrustfromtheliterature.In[GrandisonandSloman2000],trustwasdefinedas:“thefirmbeliefinthecompetenceofanentitytoactdependably,securely,andreliablywithinaspecifiedcontext”(assumingdependabilitycoversreliabilityandtimeliness).In[KiniandChoobineh1998],thetrus
