7、stheculturalidentityofthecharactersandNaipaulaswell.Insteadofculturalidentity,thisthesisattemptstoexplorethreekindsofgazeinthenovelfromtheperspectiveofpower,respectivelyagroupgazingatanindividual,themalegazingatthefemale,andthewesternculturegazingattheeasterncultu
