4、ses．Cloudcomputingcanbeviewedfromtwodifferentaspects．Oneisaboutthecloudinfrastructurewhichisthebuildingblockfortheuplayercloudapplication．Theotherisofcoursethecloudapplication．Thispaperfocusesonthecloudinfrastructureincludingthesystemsandcurrentresearch．Someattractivecloudapplicationsarealsodi

5、scussed．Cloudcomputinginfrastructurehasthreedistinctcharacteristics．First．theinfrastructureiSbuiltontopoflargescaleclusterswhichcontainalargenumberofcheapPCservers．Second，theapplicationsareCO—designedwiththefundamentalinfrastructurethatthecomputingresourcescanbemaximallyutilized．Third，therelia

6、bilityofthewholesystemisachievedbysoftwarebuildingontopofredundanthardwareinsteadofmerehardware．Allthesetechnologiesareforthetwoimportantgoalsfordistributedsystem：highscalabilityandhighavailability．Scalabilitymeansthatthecloudinfrastructurecallbeexpandedtoverylargescaleeventothousandsofnodes．A
