5、sethatsocialvalueisnotsimplyanabstractconceptbutcanbemeasuredbyapplyingsocialaccount-ingmethods.Thecaseforsocialvalueamongnonprofitsisnotcontroversial;nonprofitsareorganizedaroundasocialmission,whichsomewouldargueistheirdefiningcriterion.Byoperationalizingtheirmission,nonprofitsgenerateservicesthathave
6、varyingdegreesofsocialvalue.Thisiswidelyrecognizedinsociety,thoughmeasuringthesocialvalueofnonprofitservicesinaformalwayisanuncommonpractice.Itisalsopossibleforfor-profitfirmstohaveasocialmissionthatguidestheirprovisionofservice,thoughasarulethisisnotempha-sizedtosuchagreatextentasfornonprofits.TheBody
