3、estofTransoxania",asathesisforthedegreeofMasterofArts,andwasapprovedbytheSenateinJanuary1922,forpublicationassuch.Duringtheyearmyattentionwastakenupinotherdirectionsand,exceptforthepublicationoftwostudiesonthesubjectintheBulletinoftheSchoolofOrientalStudies,noth
4、ingfurtherwasdoneuntilbythegenerosityoftheTrusteesoftheForlongBequestFundanopportunityofpublicationwasoffered.Initspresentformtheworkhasbeenlargelyrewrittenandrevised.ItmakesnoclaimtopresentacompletehistoricalaccountoftheArabsinCentralAsia,butisintendedsolelyasa
