3、ntactandlubricationstateisaresultofthecouplingbe-tweenthedeformablesealstructureandhydrodynamiceffectsinthelubricatingfluidfilm.Thispaperpresentsanefficientcomputationalmethodforthedetermina-tionofmixed-lubricationstatesinsuchcontactregions.Astandardfinit

4、eelementmodelisusedinordertocomputethedeformationofthesealstructure,whilesi-multaneouslyauser-definedinterfaceelementsolvestheReynoldsequationthatdescribesthefluidfilm.Inthiswayanimplicitandnumericallystablecouplingbetweenthesolidandthefluidregionisachiev

5、ed.1IntroductionInhydrauliccylindersystemstherodsealshavetoprovideareliablesealingfunc-tionatminimalfrictionandwearevenathighfluidpressureandhighrodvelocities.Theserequirementsareusuallyachievedthroughasufficienthydrodynamiclubri-cationwithinthesealingc

6、ontact.Asuitabledesignofthesealingshapeisnecessarytogeneratesuchafluidfilm.Theindustrialstandardistoestimatethehydrody-namicfluidfilmfromtheinversehydrodynamiclubrication(IHL)theory[2],[6],wherethefluidfilmthicknessiscomputedfromtheinversesolutionofthestead
