3、entAssociation(HFMA)specialreport,high-performingorganizationselevatetheimportanceoftherevenuecycle,accelerateactiontoexecutestrategiestoachievegoals,andtargetandmasterelementsmostcrucialtotheirsuccessratherthanfocusingonthesameelementsasotherhospitals.Still,high-
4、performingorganizationsdosharesomecommontraits,asoutlinedintheHFMA’sspecialreport,“StrategiesforaHighPerformanceRevenueCycle,”whichisbasedonresearchinvolvedwiththePatientFriendlyBillingProject.Researchersidentifiedsixkeyareasinwhichhigh-performersexcel:people,proc
5、esses,technology,metrics,communication,andculture.Strategiesandbestpracticesinthekeyareasofpeople,processes,andtechnologyareoutlinedinthefirstpartofthisseries(seeHealthcareRegistration,October2010,vol.20,no.1).Inthisissue,wehighlightbestpracticesidentifiedbyresear
6、chersintheareasofmetrics,communication,andculture.Itisimportanttonote,however,thatanelementcriticaltosuccesssharedbyhigh-performingorganizationsisahigh-levelcommitmenttohighperformancerevenuecyclemanagement.Thiscommitmentbeginswithtopexecutives,financeandotherwise
7、,andissharedbyemployeesatalllevelsandinallareasthroughouttheorganization.Thishighlevelcommitmentfuelsbestpracticesinthesixcoreareasresearchersexaminedat14high-performingorganizationsfeaturedinthespecialreport.MetricsHealthcareproviderorganizationsthatstrugglewithp
