2、erthanthepreviouslyreportedinterferometersbasedoncascadedlongperiodgratingsinSMFs.AfurtherinvestigationonhowtoenhancetheRIsensitivityforthedetectionofslightcomponentialchangeofthesurroundingmediumisalsocarriedout.Thelowtemperaturesensitivitygreatlyreducestheef
3、fectofcross-sensitivityintherefractiveindexmeasurement.Thetotallengthofthepresentdeviceisonly8.84mmshowingexcellentcompactness.(3)Micro-taperinterferometerisproposedforthemeasurementofrelativehumidity.Theenergyoffundamentalmodecouplestohigherordermodes(mainlyH
4、E12mode)overthetransitionregionwhichcanactasabeamsplitter/combiner.TheinterferometricfringescanbeobservedasaresultofthephasedifferencebetweentheHE11andHE12modes.Thesensitivityofproposedinterferometertoexternalrelativehumidityandtemperaturearemeasuredas97.4pm/%
5、RHand-4.74pm/°C,respectively.Thelowtemperaturesensitivitygreatlyreducestheeffectofcross-sensitivityintherelativehumiditymeasurement.Thesensorpresentsaresponsetimelessthan188ms,muchfasterthanthecoatedsensors.Keywords:Fiberopticsensors;Microfibers;Interferometer
